On August 28, Huizhou Huize Aviation Development Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated, marking a substantial achievement in the integrated cooperation for the investment, construction, operation, and management of Huizhou Airport, and signaling that the second-phase expansion of Huizhou Airport has entered a new stage of full acceleration. The event was attended by Chen Yuhang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Huizhou, and Zhu Qianhong, Deputy Party Secretary, Director, and General Manager of Guangdong Airport Authority Co., Ltd.
Chen Yuhang delivered a speech on behalf of the Huizhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. He noted that Huizhou is currently striving to become a city with a trillion-yuan GDP and a population of ten million, and building a million-passenger trunk airport is a critical part of developing a modern, comprehensive transportation system—as well as a key move to proactively integrate into the Shenzhen metropolitan area and the Greater Bay Area. He affirmed that Huizhou will fully support the devel opment of Huize Aviation, accelerate the Phase II expansion, actively plan for an airport economic zone, and strive to build an aviation hub on the eastern shore of the Greater Bay Area. He also expressed the hope that Guangdong Airport Authority will continue its strong support for Huizhou’s development and work hand in hand with the city to advance the construction, management, and operation of Huizhou Airport, contributing to the development of a world-class airport cluster in the Greater Bay Area.
Zhu Qianhong noted that since the launch of commercial flights in 2015, Huizhou Airport has entered a phase of rapid growth, with all operating indicators continuing to rise. Guangdong Airport Authority will take this inauguration as an opportunity to push for early project approval, early construction, and early commissioning of the Phase II expansion, while comprehensively enhancing operational management capabilities, actively expanding the route network, and vigorously developing the airport economy—contributing to Huizhou’s drive to become a new growth pole for Guangdong’s high-quality development.
The Phase II expansion of Huizhou Airport has been officially incorporated into the national civil aviation 15th Five-Year Plan. The establishment of Huize Aviation by Guangdong Airport Authority and the Huizhou Municipal Government will effectively integrate the strengths of both government and enterprise, providing a solid guarantee for the smooth progress of the expansion, accelerating the airport’s historic leap from a million- to a ten-million-passenger facility, and better meeting the rapidly growing air transport demand in the eastern part of the Greater Bay Area.
Also in attendance were Qu Weizhen, a senior official with the Huizhou municipal government, and Yuan Jian, of the Guangdong Airport Authority.
