Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, President of Shell China Limited recently sent three letters to senior government officials of Huizhou municipal government, voicing Shell China’s deep concern of Huizhou’s disease control and prevention against the COVID-19 outbreak. In the letters, Mr. Zhang expressed Shell China’s genuine admiration for medical professionals who fought in the forefront against the virus, acknowledged Huizhou government’s effective measures in dealing with the crisis and promised to donate a batch of much-needed medical masks, goggles and other anti-epidemic supplies to Huizhou.
In the letters, Mr. Zhang said that “under such a hard time, Shell China will always stand firm with Huizhou people”. In an effort to cope with the dilemma caused by the medical supply shortage, Shell China has tried many active measures and ended up procuring over 10,000 medical masks, 1000 goggles and other much needed medical supplies, as Shell China’s corporate donation towards Huizhou’s designated hospitals to treat COVID-19 infected patients.
The epidemic is ruthless; however love prevails in this world. Back in January 27, Shell China first announced a donation worth 2 million yuan to the Wuhan Charity Federation in helping the city carry out disease control and prevention efforts. With the assistance of One Foundation, Shell China donated over 30 tons of medicinal alcohol to hospitals in worst-hit areas in Hubei, such as Huanggang, Xiaogan and Guangshui. Shell China also donated over 100 UV sterilizers to Shenshan Hospital. Moreover, all Shell China’s petrol stations started providing free gas filling services to those vehicles transporting epidemic prevention materials.
Mr. Zhang said, “By the time when flowers blossom in spring, Huizhou will see its mountains and rivers intact, and the city will continue to remain prosperous and strong.” He expressed his confidence that, with the firm leadership of Huizhou municipal government, Huizhou would certainly win this fight against the virus; and by that time, Shell China will be more than happy to discuss the latest progress of the CNOOC-Shell Phase 3 project and Huizhou’s ambitious development goal in becoming a world-class petrochemical base.
