Economic Performance of Huizhou in 2022 continues to Shine

In 2022, by conscientiously implementing the decision-making and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and the work requirements of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Guangdong Provincial Government, the CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Huizhou Municipal Government adhered to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, took a coordinated approach to epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and succeeded in recovering the city's economy and promoting high-quality development.

According to the latest statistics, Huizhou’s GDP reached 540.124 billion yuan, up 4.2% year on year, including 27.745 billion yuan of primary industry added value (up 6.9%), 301.987 billion yuan of secondary industry added value (up 7.2%), and 210.391 billion yuan of tertiary industry added value (up 0.02%).

Huizhou sees steady agriculture growth

In 2022, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in Huizhou reached 42.996 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. The sown area of grain crops was 1,707,800 mu, an increase of 1.6%; Grain output was 619,500 tons, an increase of 1.7%, achieving the 4th consecutive year increase and the highest level in the past decade. The supply of "vegetable baskets", "fruit plates" and "meat cases" was sufficient, and vegetables (including edible fungi) and fruits increased by 4.2% and 6.6% respectively; 1,435,100 market hogs were produced, an increase of 5.7%; Pork output, poultry meat and egg output increased by 7.5%, 6.1% and 31.2% respectively. The output of aquatic products increased by 8.3%, of which the output of seawater products increased by 1.1% and the output of freshwater products increased by 12.3%.

Huizhou sees steady industrial growth

In 2022, the added value contributed by industrial enterprises above designated scale reached 242.484 billion yuan, up 6.3%. As for the city’s “2+1” industrial clusters, the electronics industry grew by 2.5%; The petrochemical energy & new materials industry increased by 10.3%, of which the petrochemical industry increased by 16.1%, the energy industry increased by 2.1%, and the new material manufacturing industry decreased by 2.3%; The life and health manufacturing industry increased by 9.6%. The added value of advanced manufacturing increased by 8.4%, accounting for 65.9% of the added value contributed by industrial enterprises above designated size. The added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 4.6%, accounting for 39.1% of the added value contributed by industrial enterprises above designated size. In terms of products, medical equipment and instruments, chemical raw drugs, LCD screens, Chinese proprietary medicines, and smart phones grew rapidly, increasing by 129.9%, 35.1%, 22.4%, 15.9% and 14.8% respectively.

Huizhou sees steady growth in fixed asset investment

In 2022, fixed asset investment increased by 8.8% year-on-year. In terms of investment fields, industrial investment increased by 42.1%, of which investment in advanced manufacturing increased by 57.5%; Investment in high-tech manufacturing increased by 44.1%; Investment in industrial and technological transformation increased by 0.7%. Infrastructure investment increased by 18.5%. Investment in real estate development fell by 17.9%, and the sales area of commercial housing fell by 19.1%. The investment structure continues to be optimized. Industrial investment accounted for 43.2% of fixed asset investment, 9.6 percentage points higher than real estate development investment; investment in advanced manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing accounted for 26.1% and 15.2% of total fixed asset investment respectively.

Market consumption remains stable

In 2022, the total retail sales of consumer goods were 204.052 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%. According to the location of business units, retail sales of urban consumer goods increased by 3.1%, and retail sales of rural consumer goods increased by 3.1%. In terms of consumption patterns, retail sales of goods increased by 3.3%, and catering revenue increased by 0.6%. The consumption of basic living increased steadily, and the retail sales of grain, oil, food, daily necessities, and beverages by units above designated size increased by 18.6%, 15.7% and 14.7% respectively. Consumption upgrade commodities grew rapidly, with communication equipment, household appliances and audio-visual equipment increasing by 25.6% and 24.5% respectively. New business formats were more active, with online retail sales of units above designated size increasing by 47.8%.

Huizhou sees rapid growth in foreign trade

In 2022, foreign trade volume reached 309.10 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%, among which export volume was 204.51 billion yuan, down 4.1% and import volume was 104.58 billion yuan, an increase of 13.3%.

Finance and taxation remain stable

In 2022, the general public budget revenue was 44.171 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0%. After excluding retained tax refunds, it reached 48.474 billion, an increase of 4.0%. Domestic tax revenue was 93.708 billion yuan, down 7.1% year-on-year; after excluding tax refunds, it completed 108.601 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%. At the end of December, the balance of domestic and foreign currency deposits of financial institutions was 839.663 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%; the balance of domestic and foreign currency loans of financial institutions was 947.908 billion yuan, an increase of 11.8%.

Consumption price rises slightly

In 2022, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.7% year-on-year. Consumer goods rose by 3.9%, and from the composition of the eight categories, food, tobacco, and alcohol rose by 3.4%, clothing rose by 0.2%, housing rose by 0.5%, daily necessities and services rose by 1.9%, transportation and communication rose by 7.4%, education, culture and entertainment rose by 2.1%, health care fell by 0.3%, and other supplies and services rose by 1.8%. The Industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 4.6%.

Residents see steady income rise

In 2022, the per capita disposable income of Huizhou residents reached 44,890 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%; excluding price factors, the actual increase was 0.9%. In terms of urban and rural areas, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 50,811 yuan, an increase of 3.2%, and the actual increase was 0.5%; the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 28,964 yuan, an increase of 5.0%, and the actual increase was 2.2%.

The growth rates of regional GDP, industrial added value contributed by enterprises above designated size and their classified items are calculated at comparable prices and represent the actual growth rate; Other indicators, unless otherwise specified, are nominal growth rates at current prices.
